Thompson (lower leg) remained on the sideline during Wednesday's OTA session, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Thompson continues to recover from a fibula fracture suffered in November and the team has yet to reveal his timeline for a return to action. When healthy, he will rejoin a backfield comprised of Samaje Perine, Rob Kelley (ankle) and second-round pick Derrius Guice. Guice could challenge for considerable playing time immediately in the nation's capital, but Thompson would feel the impact of that change the least due to the rookie's struggles as a pass-catcher.

Reed (toe) did not participate in Wednesday's OTA session, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: Reed continues to recover from toe surgery and is expected to miss OTAs because of it. The injury-riddled tight end has managed to play more than 12 games just once in his career and was limited to six last season due to a combination of shoulder, rib and hamstring issues. Coach Jay Gruden hopes to have him back to full health by training camp, when he will attempt to get acclimated with new quarterback Alex Smith.

Mitchell (knee), who was on the practice field Monday, wasn't spotted during Tuesday's OTA session, Paul Perillo of the Patriots' official site reports.

Analysis: Mitchell missed the entire 2017 season due to a lingering knee issue, so we suspect that the Patriots are inclined to manage his reps at this stage. Assuming he re-proves his health, Mitchell will look to secure a role in the offense behind top wide receiver options Julian Edelman and Chris Hogan. Also battling for depth chart slotting are Jordan Matthews, Phillip Dorsett, Kenny Britt, Cordarrelle Patterson and Braxton Berrios. Mitchell, a 2016 fourth-rounder displayed promise as a rookie, but he isn't guaranteed anything heading into the coming season. We suspect that he'll end up securing a roster spot, health permitting, but Matthews looks like a solid bet to earn playing time and in such a context Mitchell's path to regular targets would be murky.

Head coach Frank Reich indicated Wednesday that he anticipates Luck (shoulder) throwing during the hiatus between the end of minicamp and the beginning of training camp, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.

Analysis: Luck took some snaps and handed the ball off during minicamp in late April, indicating progress in his recovery. However, the big test will come when his shoulder is tested for the first time. If Luck remains on track with the schedule, it wouldn't be surprising to see him participating in some fashion when training camp begins in August. Assuming he retakes command of the Colts' offense this season, Luck will need to develop a rapport with a number of new faces at the skill positions. Eric Ebron and Ryan Grant joined the club via free agency and Daurice Fountain, Deon Cain and Nyheim Hines were selected in the 2018 NFL draft.

Wilson has lined up at three different positions during the first couple days of OTAs, Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports.

Analysis: Wilson was highly coveted during the offseason, ultimately signing a three-year contract with the Dolphins. His versatility early in practice is a good sign, suggesting the team hopes to get him involved in different fashions. Miami also added Danny Amendola this offseason and retained DeVante Parker and Kenny Stills, giving the club four established options at receiver in 2018.
